Help this atlas grow - on your terms

This atlas covers a handful of nations out of thousands. The gaps are the point: it grows when people bring sources, corrections, and knowledge they are entitled to share.

Two rules govern everything published here. A factual claim needs a source that can be checked. And knowledge a community holds as restricted stays restricted - it will not be published here in any form, no matter how it arrives.

What this page does and does not do. It helps you prepare a contribution draft on your own device. It does not send, transmit, or store anything: no account, no server, no inbox. When publication rules for contributions exist, they will be written here.

Check what is already here

Read the page your contribution touches, including its source list. If it is already covered, the atlas does not need it twice.

Check what is yours to share

Only knowledge a community has itself made public, or that you have that community's consent to share, belongs here. Sacred, ceremonial, gender-restricted, or seasonal knowledge stays out - its absence is a feature, not a gap. This follows the Local Contexts TK Labels and the CARE Principles for Indigenous Data Governance.

Gather your source

A book, an article, an archive record, or a statement from the community itself. Family stories are welcome as family stories, named as such.

Write it in your words

Say what should change or what is missing, name the nation it concerns, and say where your evidence sits. Short and specific beats long and general.

Prepare your draft below

The form builds a text file on your own device. Nothing is sent, transmitted, or stored by this site - where your draft goes next is your choice.

Hard exclusions. None of the following will ever be published from a contribution:
  • Sacred or ceremonial material that is not already public
  • Knowledge belonging to a community you are not part of, without that community's consent
  • Invented or 'channeled' teachings presented as Indigenous knowledge
  • Images of identifiable people without their consent
Community members can use the same draft to flag content about their nation; flagged content stays unpublished pending review.
